Cheeseburger in Paradise Adds Gluten-Free Bun to Menu and Continues to Raise Awareness for Gluten Intolerant Efforts
May 25, 2011
This week, Cheeseburger in Paradise becomes one of the first casual dining restaurants to offer a gluten-free hamburger bun to its menu.
The gluten-free bun is the latest addition to Cheeseburger in Paradise’s gluten-free menu offerings that includes an array of appetizers, sandwiches, specialty drinks and desserts, as well as gluten-free Red Bridge beer. By late May, guests will be able to enjoy the latest gluten-free bun at all 30 Cheeseburger in Paradise locations.
“We’re very excited to share our gluten-free bun with guests looking for flavorful gluten-free dining options,” said Steve Overholt, President of Paradise Restaurant Group.
“To be one of the first in casual dining restaurants with a gluten-free bun reinforces Cheeseburger in Paradise’s commitment to offering innovative menu items that appeal to everyone, including the gluten-free community.”
“We worked diligently for more than 18 months to bring our gluten-free bun to the menu, making sure that we did not compromise taste or quality,” said Cheeseburger in Paradise Executive Chef Tom Kempsey. “And we continue to make sure that from prep to plate, our gluten-free items are properly handled for the well-being of our gluten intolerant guests.”
Also, to help celebrate “Celiac Disease Awareness Month” this May, Cheeseburger in Paradise has partnered with the nonprofit Gluten Intolerance Group® for its annual Chef to Plate Campaign fundraiser. The annual event celebrates restaurants that bring awareness to gluten intolerance and also serve up gluten-free menu items. Any donations made to Gluten Intolerance Group will go toward helping support individuals with gluten intolerance.
This May, Cheeseburger in Paradise has also partnered with Gluten Free Works for its Gluten Free Extravaganza. The popular gluten-free website recently launched its own social network – Gluten Free NetWorks – dedicated to gluten-free living. Throughout May, members will be able to win prizes from gluten-free partners such as Cheeseburger in Paradise.

About Cheeseburger in Paradise
Cheeseburger in Paradise (CIP) offers a one-of-a-kind, beach-party atmosphere, with 30 locations throughout 14 states. With quality food that is bold and flavorful, Cheeseburger in Paradise has something for everyone, including traditional American favorites complete with signature burgers and sandwiches, crowd-pleasing appetizers, garden-fresh salads, and an extensive bar selection – not to mention its famous specialty drinks.
This new development opens a lot of doors for those on the gluten-free diet. Yes, it was possible in the past to enjoy burgers and/or sandwiches without the bun, but we all know that buns with burgers help to complete the experience. Additionally, if you haven’t had a chance to try the French fries at Cheeseburger in Paradise, do so as soon as you can. They are fried in dedicated fryers and are some of the best fries we have ever tasted! Jon also loves the Jamaican Root Beer they have on the menu. He is in his own little heaven each time we go!
Not only does this change make having a burger more pleasurable, it may help to set a precedent for other restaurants (chains or locally owned) to being to offer gluten-free buns and bread
